Managing Quantity Surveyor - Rail, London, UK. 


Commercially responsible for a large project or number of smaller projects to protect the company's interest and deliver tender margin-plus with effective cost and value management.
Responsible for annual value of project/s up to £30m.

Key Accountabilities

Support the Commercial Manager/Director in developing and implementing the OU Commercial strategy and Group policies on his/her projects.
Assist with developing of, implementation and adherence to Project commercial strategy.
Ensure that clear and accurate budgets are done at tender award and then monthly for his/her projects.
Recruitment, set-up and day to day management and development of the commercial team on his/her projects.
Procurement of works to meet programme and ideally tender.
Preparation of sub-contract documents for tendering.
Management of client and subcontractor accounts.
Weekly review and analysis of programme, progress and cost monitoring.
Change control management.
Risk & opportunity management.
Financial monitoring and reporting and liaising with the project team.
Detailed commercial analysis of various outputs.
Commercial support on tenders.

Working Environment

Will have line management responsibility for Assistant/Graduate Quantity Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors.
Liaison with:
Internal - Commercial and operations team, Commercial Manager/Director and Head Office staff.
External - client and supply chain.

Person Specification

Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of commercial experience within the construction industry and at least 2years with line management responsibility.
Ideally chartered status but as a minimum a degree/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
Relevant CSCS card.

Knowledge and Experience

Good command and communication of oral and written English
Skilled negotiator and communicator.
Good people/management/organisational skills.
Extensive experience of delivering contracts administering and using a range of construction industry suite of contracts.
Good understanding and use of Group policies and reporting requirements.
IT proficient, particularly in MS Office.
